The Mayor Damon Welch Memorial Scholarship is a Scholarship Fund that was established in 2020.
Damon was a life-long resident of Madison and was a member of the Madison Consolidated High School Class of 1971. After receiving his BBA from the University of Kentucky in 1975, he served our country in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of captain. He served his community as a restaurant owner and as a member of the Madison City Council before becoming Mayor in 2012. He was a servant leader who loved his family, his city, and his church family at North Madison Christian Church, as well as working with young people.
Damon’s wife, Ginny, created this scholarship to celebrate Damon’s legacy by serving future students. Each year, this fund will award a scholarship to a graduating senior of Madison Consolidated High School who demonstrates community service, leadership, and citizenship.
