Helen C. Lotz was a Madison native, who taught English at various Jefferson County schools prior to her retirement from Madison High School in 1959. When she passed away in 1965, she left instructions in her will to create the Dorothy B. Lotz Scholarship at Madison Bank & Trust.
Her sister, Dorothy, was a teacher like Helen and preceded her in death in 1960.
In 1995, the bank transferred the scholarship to the care of the Community Foundation.
This scholarship is awarded to the top two members of the Madison Consolidated High School graduating class who will continue their studies at a college or university.
