In June 1994, the Bethany Circle of King’s Daughters’ Hospital created the Mary E. & Artz Ellis Memorial Fund.
Mary and Artz resided in Carrollton, but received the majority of their health care from KDH. They were very happy with the care they received and left a portion of their estate to the hospital after Mary passed away in 1992.
The Bethany Circle created a Donor Advised Fund with this bequest to honor the memory of Mary and Artz. In a 1994 press release written about the endowment, then Bethany Circle President Brenda Eversole said, “We like the flexibility of the advised fund so that we can respond to emerging or emergency needs in the community as well as provide continuing support to worthy organizations.”
