The Calvin Family Scholarship fund was established in 2013 by Phyllis Calvin in memory of, and in honor of her family members.
Phyllis spent 44 years teaching with the last 30 years of teaching at Austin Middle School, Austin, Indiana. For 15 years her husband, Cecil Lawrence “Larry” Calvin, taught mathematics and science at Madison Consolidated Junior High School. Her daughter, Lisa, is a Spanish professor at Indiana State University. Because of a never-ending love for both the job and the students, Phyllis decided the recipient of the scholarship would be a Madison Consolidated High School or Southwestern High School graduating student who has the goal of becoming a teacher.
