The Father Hilary G. Meny Scholarship Trust was established in 1990, and later transferred to the Community Foundation in 1994.
Father Hilary G. Meny was appointed as the local priest of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in 1949. During his time at St. Patrick’s, he was instrumental in helping to establish Shawe Memorial & Pope John Schools, and served as the superintendent. In 1990, Fr. Meny retired from active priesthood, and at this time, the St. Patrick’s Altar Society created a trust for this scholarship to honor his service.
Each year, this scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior of Shawe Memorial High School to help them continue their education at an institution of higher learning.
