The Harold & Frances Yancey and Shirley Yancey Kloepfer Scholarship was established in 2025 by Shirley Yancey Kloepfer in memory of her parents.
The Yancey and Kloepfer families have resided in Jefferson County for generations. For several decades, Harold and Frances Yancey owned and operated Yancey’s Auto Parts, which was one of the first businesses in the western portion of Clifty Drive. Shirley served as a Spanish teacher at Madison and Southwestern High Schools, and retired as the director of La Casa Amiga, which she helped establish in 2003.
To honor her mother’s time as a teacher, as well as her own, Shirley established this scholarship to remember her parents and honor their family’s legacy in Jefferson County. Each year, this scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior of Shawe Memorial High School to support their post-secondary educational goals.
